4 die in post-election victory parade

Four people were killed in a car crash during a post election celebration in the central Colombian department of Casanare, according to local media.

The event took place during a celebratory parade for the winning candidates of Sunday’s local elections.

Several cars crashed with election caravans during the parade and about a dozen people were hit as a result. Four of the people hit died at the scene.

At the same time, a group of 200 dissatisfied voters allegedly went to the registry office in an effort to prevent the election information from being transmitted. During the disturbance they allegedly attempted to take over the computer system and to beat up a group of journalists

According to the report by Caracol Radio, the unrest continued until 2AM Monday morning when the police were able to assist the public officials in leaving the registry.
