Colombia news - MLS football

No less than four Colombian players form part of the 2010 Major League Soccer All-Star team that is to face Manchester United on Wednesday.

The team’s starting line-up, which includes one Colombian, consists of 11 players elected by fans, players, coaches, general managers and members of the media.

The one Colombian picked to start in this game is Jamison Olave, who plays as a defender for Real Salt Lake having joined the MLS side from Deportivo Cali in 2008.

Another 12 players were picked as ‘alternates’, including three Colombians. These are Wilman Conde, Jr. of Chicago Fire, David Ferreira of FC Dallas and New York Red Bulls striker Juan Pablo Angel.

Other players in the First XI include Donovan Ricketts, Chad Marshall and Landon Donovan.

Manchester United took some of their star players to the United States, such as Edwin van der Sar, John O’Shea, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Dimitar Berbatov.

The match will be played at Houston’s Reliant Stadium with kick-off at 7:30pm central time.
