Former U.S. hostages publish book about FARC captivity

Former U.S. hostages Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes and Keith Stansell
published their book about their years in FARC captivity. Colombian
vice-President Francisco Santos received the first copy of ‘Out of
Captivity’.

Santos, currently on a U.S. tour to promote investment in Colombia, received the first copy in New York City and took the opportunity to stress the success of ‘Operation Jaque’ that ended the imprisonment of the Americans.

The three military contract workers wrote the book to describe the nearly 2,000 days they spent in the Colombian jungle after their spy plane crashed and they were captured by guerrillas. They were rescued by the Colombian army in July 2008, together with Ingrid Betancourt and 11 members of Colombia’s armed forces.
