Former Social Security director arrested again

Former director of Colombia’s Social Security Institute (ISS),
Guillermo Fino, was arrested Thursday morning on corruption and
embezzlement charges.

Fino was already arrested in November 2008 for the same accusations but was exonerated of all charges.

On Thursday morning, the Superior Court of Quindio ordered Fino’s recapture because the Prosecution found new evidence to prove the corruption and embezzlement of former ISS director, local media reported.

When Fino was director of ISS he demanded a commission of 10 per cent on signing a contract with
Fresenius Medical Care, former director of the company, Rodrigo Diaz Sendoya, claimed. The commission was allegedly over 40 billion pesos, US$
19 million.
