Suaza made the accusations before a chamber of Colombia’s Peace Commission. In an interview with Caracol Noticias the former member of AUC says his only objective was “to warn the president about what’s going on”. He says there is a “clear intention to destabilize the government”.The Uribe administration is currently under heavy fire, because of criminal investigations against more than sixty members of Congress, almost all members of the pro-Uribe coalition. They are suspected of having or having had ties with paramilitary groups. Uribe’s close ally and cousin Mario Uribe was arrested earlier this week and also the President has admitted he himself is being investigated for alleged links with paramilitary groups.Suaza is currently under increased state protection.
