Former Miss Colombia to star in Colombian Grey’s Anatomy

Colombian Carolina Gómez will star in the Colombian version of the popular U.S television show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.

The 33 year old actress and Miss Colombia 1993 will take the role of protagonist and the series namesake Meredith Grey. The series will be screened on the RCN channel.

Gómez told Aló that she first became interested in the project while filming Amas de casa desesperadas, (a Latin version of popular U.S television show Desperate Housewives) in Argentina. She said Grey’s Anatomy appealed to her because it is more than just a medical drama and depicts human conflicts and the search for love.

Filming will begin in Bogotá at an undisclosed time.

There are plans to develop Mexican, Argentinan and Brazilian versions of the series too. The latin versions will be producd by Fernando Gaitán, creator of Yo Soy Betty la Fea (Ugly Betty).
