According to hospital staff, Higuita is currently in stable condition under influence of medicines, this to allow him to be examined by a neurologist on Friday. This should give more clarity on the exact cause of the complaints.
Higuita gained international fame for his so-called ‘scorpion kick’ in a friendly match with England in 1995, representing the Colombian national team. The keeper retired this year, after a successful season with Deportivo Pereira.
In the past, Higuita also played for clubs as Atletico Nacional, Independiente Medellin and Atletico Junior. At the moment, the Colombian icon works as keepers’ trainer at Spanish club Real Valladolid.
