The Colombian Army claims to have killed five suspected FARC guerillas in the department of Huila in central Colombia on Sunday, reports Colombian newspaper Terra.

According to the commander for the Army’s 9th Brigade, General William Henry Torres, three FARC guerillas were killed in combat with Colombian troops in the municipality of San Agustin, in the southern part of Huila.

In addition, two more suspected FARC fighters were killed the same day in the area between Huila and the department of Caqueta, Torres claimed.

According to Torres, four soldiers suffered injuries during the battle with the rebels.

Torres went on to add that in the Huila municipality of Algeciras, the army captured known FARC guerilla “Alcides,” who is accused of extorting money from businesses across the region.
