FARC will release hostages before January 15, says Córdoba

Colombian guerrilla group FARC will complete the promised release of
six hostages before January 15, opposition senator and mediator Piedad
Córdoba said Friday.

The lawmaker told journalists that the release would happen between now and January 15 and that she is hoping the FARC will soon delivers the coordinates of the site where the two politicians and four members of the security forces can be picked up.

“Once we have the coordinates we will hurry to complete the release,” she said.

The politicians and members of the security forces are part of the group of 28 captive the FARC included in their proposal for a humanitarian exchange with 500 guerrillas currently in Colombian and U.S. prisons. The six will be released unilatiraly as a sign of good will for the initiative of Córdoba and 150 Colombian intellectuals to seek a political solution to the country’s 44-year old conflict.
