FARC website taken offline

The website of Colombia’s largest guerrilla group FARC was disabled by
the German server that had been hosting the rebels’ website the past
six months.

The website had been on-air since December 2006 after the guerrillas’ previous website was taken off air half a year before.

When visiting the FARC website now, a notification says “the website is banned and currently not available” in German.

A ‘whois’ search showed the website was hosted on a German server and registered by Swiss internet service provider Hoststar Multimedia Networks.

The guerrillas used the website for their press releases.

The FARC is considered a terrorist organization by the European Union.
