FARC ammunition stash found in southwestern Colombia

Colombian police confiscated a large stash of ammunition allegedly belonging to the left-wing rebel group the FARC in the southwestern Cauca department, reported local media Tuesday.

The 50MM bullets were found on a bus near the Pan-American Highway, on the stretch connecting the southwestern cities of Popayan and Pasto. A woman was arrested on the bus, accused of being the courier responsible for the shipment.

Authorities said the ammunition came from Ecuador and was en route to Cauca, where it was to be distributed to the various FARC fronts that operate in the region.
