The FARC stressed their guerrilla guards to kill hostages in case of an
attempted escape or upcoming army release, demobilized guerrilla ‘Miryam’ told
press Thursday.
Aenaida ‘Miryam’ Rudea Calderón escaped her guerrilla camp with a hostage Saturday, hoping to receive the same treatment and award as former guerrilla ‘Isaza’, who surrendered former politician Oscar Tulio Lizcano and is now in France with hundreds of thousands of dollars.
In a press conference organized by Colombia’s armed forces, Myriam said that after Isaza’s escape, the commanders of the fronts doubled the security of the hostages and reiterated “that if a hostage is to be rescued by the army, he must be killed. Let them rescue them dead instead of alive,” Myriam told reporters were her orders.
The Colombian government is currently trying to secure the demobilized guerrilla receives the reward promised to guerrillas who surrender with a hostage.
