Guerrilla group the FARC set fire to a helicopter belonging to the Argentine multinational oil company Pluspetrol in south-eastern Colombia on Monday, military sources reported.
The Colombian air force said in a statement that the attack by the FARC’s 39th Front took place in a Pluspetrol base in Mapiripan, a small town on the edge of the Meta department, near the border with Guaviare.
An air force combat helicopter base in the Meta capital of Villavicencio has been mobilized to the area and will remain on high alert.
The Argentine company operates a major oil field in the eastern plains of Colombia, as well as operations in Peru and Bolivia.
