‘FARC responsible for Awa massacre’

Colombia’s PG’s Office on Monday claimed to have recordings which prove that the massacre of 12 Awa indigenous people in August was carried out by FARC guerrillas.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reveal that is has in it’s possession numerous telephone recording which show that the FARC were behind the killing of 12 Awa Indians on August 26 in Colombia’s southern department of Nariño, reported news station RCN Monday.

The interceptions allegedly reveal Gilberto Gonzalez Sanchez, alias ‘Rambo’ – commander of the Ramon Aldana FARC column – receiving a report which detailed one of his subordinates, alias ‘Daniel’, as executor of the massacre.

According to this National Police report, ‘Daniel’ is in fact Daniel Rodriguez, commander of the FARC militia faction, who have their base point located very close to the place where the massacre occured.

The investigation is still in process.
