FARC repeats willingness to talk

The FARC again expressed they are willing to seek a political solution to Colombia’s 44-year violent conflict.

According to a communique, the FARC “understand that the political solution to the problems of war and peace remains a fundamental concern of the vast majority of the Colombians.”

The guerrillas say they will continue talking to mediators, despite the escape of former lawmaker Oscar Tulio Lizcano last week.

Earlier, the leftist rebels had sent a letter to opposition senator Piedad Córdoba accepting the invitation of 150 prominent Colombians to start a discussion leading to a possible political way out of the war.
