FARC leader “Mocho Jordan” arrested

Following six months of intelligence work searching for the wanted FARC guerilla, the Colombian National Police announced on Tuesday that they have captured “Mocho Jordan”, the head of the guerilla organization’s “Lower Cauca” branch, reported RCN Radio.

According to authorities, Adelmo Cala, alias “Mocho Jordan”, who was captured by the police in an operation in the town of Floridablanca, in the department of Santander, was wanted for crimes of terrorism, rebellion, and causing personal injury with terrorist aims.

The police reported that the FARC commander was caught outside of a residential complex as he was going outside to buy himself a new prosthetic arm, which he had previously lost from an accident while handling explosives.

Authorities claim that “Mocho Jordan”, in addition to leading FARC operations in parts of Santander, also trained FARC guerillas and participated in attacks against security forces and civilians across the country.
