‘FARC’ kill 2 soldiers in west Colombia

Two soldiers were killed and three more injured in the latest guerrilla attack in the conflict ravaged region of Cauca, west Colombia.

According to El Espectador, insurgents from the FARC’s mobile Jacobo Arenas column ambushed the soldiers at an army checkpoint.

Following the attack, the military shut down transit routes between the north of Cauca and the south of Valle del Cauca for three hours to secure the area.

The injured soldiers are reportedly in a stable condition.

Frequent FARC attacks in Cauca have continued since July, when NGO Nuevo Arco Iris reported there had already been 166 guerrilla attacks in the department this year.
