‘FARC ideologue’ surrenders in southern Colombia

An alleged FARC ideologue known as “El Indio” has surrendered to armed forces in southern Colombia, various media reported Wednesday.

The 39-year-old suspected FARC member spent some 23 years serving as a political commisar for the rebel group.

He was reportedly fourth- in-command of the Jose Galan Front, a FARC unit suspecting of operating in Colombia’s southern Caqueta department.

According to an army press release, the FARC member expressed his desire to participate in Colombia’s program for demobilized guerrillas.
