FARC hostage release delayed by bad weather: Cordoba

The planned release of five FARC hostages is being delayed by bad weather, mediator Piedad Cordoba said Monday.

On her Twitter page, the mediator, who is banned from the senate for alleged links to the rebel group, said that it’s impossible “to give an exact date because the bad weather is not helping with the transport of the hostages.”

Cordoba told Colombian radio station La FM that before January 18 there will be no news about the date of the release.

The mediator further announced that the hostages will be released on five different locations.

” We are about to have everything ready, but without the coordinates we can’t move forward. The problem is that with five different locations — there are five people coming to five different locations — there will be more than two releases,” the former senator said.

The FARC announced the release of the hostages on December 8.
