FARC guerrillas captured in La Guajira

At least six FARC guerrillas who were believed to have been planning an attack against a military unit were captured by the Colombian army in the northern department of La Guajira.

The guerrillas were captured in the municipality of Barrancas by the 2nd Mechanized Calvary Group. They were found with various firearms, 150 rounds of ammunition, 21 electric detonators, 15 meters of detonating cord and 12 kilos of marijuana.

“The individuals planned a terrorist attack with the intention of perpetrating it against members of the public force deployed in the sector,” said Cornel Juan Jose Rondon.

They are expected to be charged with rebellion and the illegal possession of weapons.
