‘FARC’ guerrilla extradited to the US

An alleged FARC guerrilla was extradited to the United States for his role in the kidnapping of three U.S. citizens Friday.

According to an official report the Colombian National Police transported Alexander Herrera Beltran, alias “Rodrigo Pirinolo,” from the Combita maximum security prison to the Catam military airport near Bogota, where he was handed over to U.S. agents.

When he was captured in Cartagena in 2011, Beltran was said to be the right-hand man in the 27th front of the FARC.

He will be tried in a U.S. court for his role in the kidnapping of three American citizens, Marc Gonsalves, Keith Stansell, and Thomas Howes, who were held for five years.
