FARC forcibly recruit 100 children in central Colombia: ombudsman

The FARC forcibly recruited more than 100 children in the Tolima department, Central Colombia, the local ombudsman said Friday.

After being notified of the recruitment, the Ombudsman’s Office sent a humanitarian commission to the Rioblanco municipality, Tolima department, to investigate, ombudsman Santiago Ramirez told Radio Santa Fe.

“There is no official complaint yet,” Ramirez said. “But that is understandable because no one wants to endanger their children.”

Most of the forcibly recruited children are under 15 years of age.
