FARC: death Marulanda doesn’t change anything

“Our proposals concerning the humanitarian agreements and the political ways out will remain the same as we have expressed many times before,” the secretariat of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) writes in a communique.The FARC says they will continue fighting their battle under their new commander in chief Alfonso Cano as they did under Manuel Marulanda. “The great leader has moved onand his inexhaustible lessons that matured us over the years by his side, today, in the midst of our grief, we emphasize in full force and with high moral the confidence in our revolutionary principles, plans, proposals and the victory of the popular cause”Colombian President Álvaro Uribe told the press Saturday he has received “calls” from some FARC rebel leaders were ready to hand themselves over and free hostages including Franco-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt. The communique by the high command of the rebels shows nothing of a changed attitude towards the liberation of hostages.
