An alleged FARC camp and cocaine laboratory was destroyed in the southwest of Colombia, local media reported Tuesday.
The camp was equipped for 30 people and had two crystallizers with the capacity to produce up to seven tons of cocaine hydrochloride, the base element of cocaine, each month.
The destroyed camp was located in the department of Nariño near the Ecuadorian border.
According to local media, the camp belonged to “Rincon,” a group within the FARC belonging to the mobile column “Daniel Aldana.”
The destruction of the camp was carried out in a joint venture by navy tropps and the national army’s task forces on drugs.
So far this year Colombia’s Pacific Naval Force has managed to destroy 57 structures intended for cocaine production, including rustic kitchens, laboratories and crystallizers.
The Colombian Navy has vowed to continue developing operations to weaken the logistical and financial structures of illegal armed groups active in the Colombian Pacific region.
