The military disabled a car bomb believed to have been placed by the FARC in the south Colombian Cauca department, newspaper El Espectador reported Monday.
The car was set to detonate in the main park in the municipality of Caloto, one of the primary conflict zones with the FARC.
An informant reportedly told the Prosecutor General the whereabouts of the explosive device and police have begun canvasing the area for more explosives. Armed forces will dispose of the already uncovered bomb by detonating it in a controlled manner later on Monday.
In a separate case involving the guerrilla group in the area, three policemen from Cauca were killed Sunday and one injured in a reported FARC attack.
