FARC attack Pan-American Highway

Suspected FARC guerrillas shot out the tires of two trucks on the Pan-American Highway, near Santander de Quilichao in the Cauca department, reports Caracol.

At least eleven people allegedly forced the trucks to pass before shooting at them, which caused a roadblock that backed up traffic for about two hours.

The police and army later regained control of the area and moved in tanks to ensure the safety of drivers and traffic along the highway.

This is the third incident in four days where FARC guerrillas have allegedly carried out operations along the Colombian Pan-American Highway. On August 7 the FARC used dynamite in an attack on the same stretch of road between Cali and Popayan.
