‘FARC’ attack kills 2 police in southwest Colombia

Two policemen have been killed and one has been injured in an alleged FARC attack in the southwest of Colombia, authorities said Monday.

Colonel Ricardo Augusto Alarcon, commander of police in the southwestern Cauca department, told W Radio that FARC guerrillas carried out a hit and run attack on police forces on Sunday evening.

“Last night at around 11 at night a cowardly attack took place in which two of our men were murdered and another was injured,” said Alarcon.

The policemen were part of a police force ensuring safety in the village of Silvia where the annual festival is being held.

Silvia lies in the area where the FARC last week carried out three attacks.
