FARC attacks Colombia’s National Police; kills 2, injures 3

An alleged FARC attack Tuesday night killed two and seriously injured three members of the National Police stationed in southwestern Colombia, reported Radio Santa Fe Wednesday.

The police were on duty at the Guabo monitoring station in the town of Mallama in Nariño department when they were attacked by the Mariscal Sucre column of the FARC’s 29th Front.

The agents were protecting the road between the towns of Pasto and Tumaco. According to Mallama Mayor Francisco Melo Revelo, army units quickly arrived and restored security to the site early Wednesday morning.
