‘FARC’ attack injures 7 police

An alleged FARC attack on a police vehicle left seven officers wounded in the Huila department, Terra reported Thursday.

The truck carrying 17 police officers was passing the La Union residential complex near the center of the Nieva municipality when unidentified persons thew a bomb at the vehicle.

Minutes after the attack, police caught a woman trying onto flee the scene on a motorcycle who had dropped a grenade. Explosives experts safely detonated the grenade.

The injured were brought to General Hospital in Nieva and two have been discharged.

The Huila department sees a strong presence of members of Colombia’s largest guerrilla group FARC.
