The leader of the Bolivarian Socialist Movement (MSB), a Colombian political movement supportive of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, claims that the FARC are not terrorists.
According to MSB leader David Corredor Cuellar the word “terrorism” was invented by the United States.
“Otherwise we would call Simón Bolívar a terrorist because he resisted the Spanish crown. This is a North American concept [that has developed since] the attacks on the Twin Towers.”
However, Corredor Cuellar denies any connections or sympathies with the FARC. He also denies receiving any funding for his party from Venezuela.
The MSB is currently trying to create an official political party to take part in the 2010 elections.
