Parapolitics witness’ family ‘murdered, threatened’

Robinson Javier Guilombo, a key witness in the case against former senate president Luis Humberto Gomez Gallo, received news that his mother died in an alleged attack by armed men, RCN Radio reported on Tuesday.

According to authorities, several heavily armed men arrived at the Guilombo’s mother’s house and opened fire.  RCN reports that Guilombo’s brothers have been threatened and are currently being protected by the military.

Guilombo acted as a confidant to U.S. authorities and reported details on colombian drug dealers.  He left Colombia to received protection from the DEA in the United States and is slated to testify against the former senate president on Wednesday.

Gomez is under investigation for alleged paramilitary ties.
