Families hostages want Betancourt as their “ambassador”

Families of hostages held by one of Colombia’s armed groups asked
former hostage Ingrid Betancourt to ask attention for the fate of their
loved while she’s visiting several Latin American countries.

“She should be the ambassador of those who are held hostage and those who has family held hostage,” Marleny Orjuela, spokeswoman of the hostages’ families said Sunday.

Orjuela met with Betancourt during the French-Colombian’s first visit to Colombia since she was released from het FARC captors.

“We want her to lobby in all European and South American countries, on all continents, Orjuela added.

Betancourt is to tour South America to promote the human rights foundation she is setting up.
