The last remaining Colombian tennis player at this year’s edition of Roland Garros, Alejandro Falla, suffered an expected defeat against the world’s number one, Roger Federer.
Unlike Santiago Giraldo and Mariana Duque, Falla did advance to the second round of the French Open but could not have faced a tougher opponent as he faced the Swiss Federer.
Falla did do surprisingly well in the opening set and forced a tie-break, which he ended up losing. He could have won the set at an earlier point but Federer recovered just in time.
Losing the opening set seemed to break Falla’s resistance as Federer won the second set 6-2 and the third ended 6-4.
