Falcao vows to take Monaco ‘to the top of European soccer’

Colombia striker Radamel Falcao is planning to take his new club AS Monaco “to the top of European soccer,” he said Tuesday.

During his presentation as the French club’s forward, the Colombian told press that “for us the goal is very clear, it is to win all the competitions.”

Falcao said to be “delighted” to be in France, which made him one of the most expensive players in the history of soccer.

“Coming to an institution like Monaco is the wish of every player. Personally, to know that you are an essential part in a project gives a lot of confidence and serenity,” said Falcao.

The Colombian, known at home as “El Tigre,” said that the ambitions of his club and himself are “to bring Monaco to the top of European soccer.”

The Santa Marta born player is widely considered one of the world’s best strikers, scoring 52 times in the 62 matches he played for his previous employer, Spanish club Atletico Madrid.

Falcao hopes to continue to be as effective in France as he was in Spain.

“”As I have always said, my goal is to score as many goals as it will take to crown ASM the Ligue 1 champion. If I score a lot, I’ll be happy,” he said.
