Falcao named to 2012 FIFA Dream Team

Colombian soccer ace Radamel Falcao was selected as part of the 11-man FIFA 2012 Dream Team.

The “Dream Team” symbolizes what would be the perfect compilation of current professional players from around the world in a given year. Out of a pool of 55 players, five goalkeepers, 20 defenders, 15 midfielders and 15 strikers, the Athletico Madrid forward was chosen as one of three strikers for the final 11-man lineup.

Falcao was chosen alongside Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who recently beat out Falcao for the 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or player of the year award — Messi’s fourth in a row — Christiano Ronaldo and Gerard Pique.

All 11 players came from Spanish teams; six from Barcelona, four from Real Madrid, and one, Falcao, from Athletico Madrid.

Barcalona released the line up via Twitter:

The Dream Team selections have been around since 2009 and are chosen by players, coaches and journalists.
