Cali’s police commander, general Jesús Antonio Gómez Méndez, said two men on motorcycles hurled the explosive devices into trash cans in public sites of Cali’s downtown and southern sectors Tuesday morning. On Monday night, two explosive devices were activated in Cali, one in commercial center and another in front of a banking headquarters, causing damages worth more than US$ 8,400. The authorities refuse to reveal what measures have been taken exactly, but said the explosives were of the kind the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia use and think it is a retaliation of the rebels for the capture of gurilla leader Gustavo ‘Santiago’ Cardona Arbeláez last Thursday in Buenaventura, a city in the same department as Cali. The government is also cautious for relatiation of the extradition of 14 paramilitary leaders Tuesday.
