A U.S. judge sentenced former paramilitary leader ‘Pablo Sevillano’ to
17 years in jail for drug trafficking, news agency EFE reported
Guillermo Perez Alzate, alias ‘Pablo Sevillano’, was the leader of paramilitary group ‘Libertadores
del Sur’. He demobilized with 689 of his men and women on July 30,
Perez admitted in front of a Florida judge to have murdered 29 people between 2002 and 2004, including trade unionist Libio
Hernandez. The paramilitary warlord is believed to be responsible for 1,660 murders.
Perez was extradited to the U.S. on May 13, 2008 and is the third former paramilitary to be sentenced in Florida.
