Ex Senator arrested for parapolitics

Former Colombian Senator Mario Salomon Nader was arrested in the Caribbean city of Barranquilla for his alleged ties with paramilitary groups.

Salomon was arrest after his named appeared on a list provided by paramilitary commander Freddy Rendon, alias “El Aleman,” of politicians who allegedly received support from the Elmer Cardenas Bloc of now-demobilized paramilitary organization the AUC.

The ex senator will be moved to Bogota on the orders of Colombia’s Supreme Court to be questioned further.
