Ex-president Betancur to be questioned about Palace of Justice drama

Two retired army generals, Jesús Armando Arias Cabrales and Rafael Samudio Molina are also called for questioning. They will have to respond to their alleged involvement in the possible abduction and murder of eleven employees of the Court who disappeared during the liberation, one of them was found in a mass grave years later.The former president is called to testify against the retired generals.The army siege, following the occupation of the Supreme Court, is one of the bloodiest in Colombian history.24 hours after M-19 guerrillas had occupied the building and had taken approximately 300 people hostage, the army, on President Betancur’s orders, stormed the building. During the attack more than a hundred people were killed.No one within the Colombian Military has ever been sentenced for the disappearing and possible abduction and murder of the eleven civilians.
