Ex-minister investigated over misuse of funds

The Inspector General has opened a formal investigation in to the activities of former Vice Minister of Defense Alejandro Arbelaez, over irregularities in the investment of funds, reported Colombian media.

The offense apparently occurred while Arbelaez was Governor of the Arauca Department, in northern Colombia.

The irregularities revolve around an alleged failure to monitor and control the flow of resources transferred to the Special Administrative Unit of the Department of Health.
