Ex-House president investigated for corruption

Colombia’s Supreme Court has opened a corruption investigation against the former president of the House of Representatives, local media reported Wednesday.

It is the third time that Partido de la U politician Zulema Jattin has been under criminal investigation; In 2009 she was arrested for her alleged ties to paramilitary group AUC and later for slander after accusing the court of kidnapping. She was released without having gone to trial on January 8 this year.

This time, Jattin is called to appear at a hearing about alleged irregularities in a contract she had with the University of Magdalena, while she was House president.
