Ex-DAS Director lied to Supreme Court: Magistrate

The Magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice Jaime
Arrubla Paucar has “no doubt” that ex-Director of DAS, Maria del Pilar Hurtado, attempted to cover-up illegal wire-tappings.

Ex-DAS director del Pilar resigned after it was revealed that DAS had spied on opposition senator Gustavo Petro.

Arrubla told Radio W that he believed del Pilar had lied to magistrates when questioned over the wire-tappings. Arrubla sent a letter, in which del Pilar claims no wire-tappings had occurred, to the Prosecutor General as proof of her duplicity.

He also revealed in an interview with Radio Caracol that he believes that wire-tapping orders did not come from middle management but from the top.

Arrubla said he hopes that those responsible for having ordered the wire-tappings will be identified soon.
