EU to negotiate with just Peru and Colombia

The European Union has agreed to negotiate a trade agreement directly with Colombia and Peru, bypassing the resistance of Bolivia and Ecuador, said Colombian president Álvaro Uribe Tuesday.

Uribe said the president of the European Commission sent a letter to him and his Peruvian counterpart, Alan García, reported French news agency AFP.

Negotiations between the European Union and the four-country Andean Nation Community, or CAN for its Spanish initials, have stalled due to objections by Bolivia and Ecuador on the terms of engagement.
