Electric cars available for Cartagena’s green-minded tourists

Visitors to the popular Colombian tourist destination of Cartagena now have the opportunity to tour the city’s streets in an ecologically-sound manner, with the introduction of an electricity-powered car.

European company Eco Car Ltd announced that it has put two electric cars into circulation around the city and that it will soon be investing in ten more of the Chinese-designed vehicles.

The cars will be made available for hire by tourists wishing to tour Cartagena’s famous historical centre, with the aim of reducing green-house gases and pollution whilst providing a pleasant and easy method of transportation for visitors.

According to a spokesperson for the company, the scheme is not only looking for a business opportunity, but also “aiming to contribute with the environment.”

Eco cars can be hired by groups of up to eight for a charge of COP20,000 per hour.
