Election of PG postponed again

Colombia’s Supreme Court was for the second time forced to postpone election of a new prosecutor general, reported El Espectador on Thursday.

After three hours of deliberation by the court magistrates during the voting process, each of the three prospective candidates, who were approved by the court last week, failed to obtain the sixteen votes needed to assume the post.

Sources in the Supreme Court assert that in one of the rounds of voting candidate Margarita Cabello obtained a small advantage of nine votes, against six for Camilo Ospina and two for de Velilla. However, these results did not fulfill the court’s requirements.

The approved candidates will undergo election by the courts for a third time.
