Ecuador wants OAS to investigate computers Raúl Reyes

“Ecuador is officially asking the General Secretary of the OAS to investigate everything that has to be investigates,” said Salvador during a press conference in Medellín, where the OAS’ General Assembly is having a summit.”We have nothing to hide,” she said and indicated that she asked the OAS to determine “the validity of the documents and the validity of the Interpol report.”Interpol had investigated if the content on the computers had been altered after the day Colombia claims to have found the laptops. The international police organization concluded that Colombia hadn’t tampered any of the content.Interpol never investigated if the computer actually belonged to Raúl Reyes and didn’t investigate if there indeed were ties between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and Quito, as implied in files and e-mails found on the computers. In the meanwhile Ecuador has no hurry in re-establishing political ties with its northern neighbor, despite efforts by the OAS to bring the countries closer together. The Ecuadorean ambassador for the OAS, Ephraín Cocíos, said it would “possible” seek contact later this year, depending on developments.Ecuador cut all diplomatic ties with Colombia after the March 1 raid on a FARC camp in Ecuador that killed the guerrillas’ number two Raúl Reyes.
