‘Ecuador to declare FARC as terrorist organization’

by Javier Emilio Valencia October 6, 2009

Colombia news - Ecuador

Former Colombian president Ernesto Samper said Tuesday that Ecuador will declare the FARC as a terrorist organization if Unasur does the same.

Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa “says that it is not a decision that he can make by himself, that he would need concensus from Unasur, that he has already told so to President Uribe,” Samper said to Caracol TV.

Samper also said that President Correa is willing to re-establish relations with Colombia although he will set some conditions.

“It is like the sacrament of confession. First confession of guilt; second, penance, and third, purpose of ammendment.” Samper said.

Ecuador recalled his embassador in Colombia after the Colombian air force bombed a FARC’s camp in Ecuador, killing guerilla commander Raul Reyes.
