The Colombian promise to increase the number of troops along its
frontier with Ecuador in order to secure the border is not sufficient
enough to re-establish relations, Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa
said Sunday.
In his weekly radio and television program, Correa insisted that Colombia comply with other Ecuadorean conditions before the leftist President considers resuming relations.
Colombian President Álvaro Uribe’s decision to send more troops was a recognition of Ecuador’s claim that the Colombian State was securing the border insufficiently, Correa said.
