Ecuadorean Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño said he has reservations about the veracity of computer files Colombia claims belonged to deceased FARC leader “Raul Reyes,” reports W Radio.
“With Raul Reyes’ computers there was no clear chain of custody to determine whether or not they were manipulated,” Patiño said.
Last Thursday Patiño announced that Ecuador was unable to access information found on the computers due to “technical difficulties.”
Colombia seized the discs in March 2008, following a military raid on a FARC camp in Ecuadorean territory, in which Raul Reyes and 25 others were killed. Ecuador viewed the incursion as violating its sovereignty, and cut ties with Colombia.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos handed the files over on the first day of his term, August 7, and relations between the two countries have been restored.
