Ecopetrol will invest $17.5 bln

Juan Fernando Garzon, Ecopetrol’s chief of investment projects, said the company will invest $3.76 billion this year alone.In September the company sold 10.1 percent of itself in a first-round privatization. The sale raised about $3 billion. Colombia is trying to revitalize an oil sector stunted by leftist guerrillas who often bomb pipelines as part of their four-decade-old war against the state.
